Any of those labels are apt. They all explain why I’ve spent my life with my nose in a book, greedily gobbling up stories like the very best chocolate. Except you don’t get a sugar crash from the Chronicles of Narnia.
I created the English Bookworms Online Book Club because I wanted to share the stories I love with lots of little bookworms. I have 20 years of experience working with children. That has included working in UK classrooms, teaching English online, and creating groundbreaking education resources for UK schools.
Book Club members will be reading alongside an English Literature postgraduate from one of the UK’s most prestigious universities, Durham University. I achieved a Master of Arts degree with Distinction, which is the highest grade possible.
After teaching ESL online to Chinese students for the past 3 years, I’m excited by my new book club role as a reading coach for kids who want to increase their confidence when reading and speaking in English.
Do you remember your first book?
Because I definitely do. The first one that I bought with my own pocket money was The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis.
And I still have it. That very copy. It’s around 30 years old and has grown a little yellow with age, but the spine remains unbroken. Which is more than I can say for my own spine.
